LOCKWOOD

Comments:

This is really exciting!! SAMUEL LOCKWOOD has been a major stumbling block in my search! It will be interesting to see how long it takes me to track his father, HIRAM LOCKWOOD, and will be equally interesting to see if I can, ultimately, tie him to the JOSEPH LOCKWOOD that I also found at this site! Anyone researching this name, I'd love to hear from you!!

Hi
very interested site I have the book on Pioneer live on the Bay of Quinty from the library and this book is very good in trying to find any connection to the Way branch of the family like anything else the family is not talking about the for fathers and that makes it very difficult to trace anything with no help.
Thank you for having this site and all the hard work that every one has put in.
Thank you

Comments:

I am very interested in the Ham family, as my great grandmother was a British Home Child and was sent to live with the Ham Family (unsure of which one though) in 1889. She lived with them and was "adopted" by them until she went to Nursing School at Nassau Hospital School of Nursing in Mineola, NY (graduated 1906). If any one knows of Alice Reed or her sister Lucy Reed (her sister) that went to Marchmont Distribution home in Belleville ON in 1889 please contact me...edurbin79@hotmail.com

Living on the west coast, makes it difficult to check out my roots.
By reading your site I find that not only are my father's family very old and aristocratic but so are my Canadian counterparts. All being involved in their country's welfare and government.
I am rather proud of my heritage at the moment and I must say your site did this to me.
Going through your site made me realize that the westerners don't seem to want to be bothered to carry on with updating their roots.
I would like to have a one to one chat with you when you have time.
I recognized quite a few names in your emails as I was raised in the Kingston area.
Thank you.

Am looking for any records that might give me a clue as to where in Ireland they came from. Wasn't able to find anything except some land records mentioning Hannah and a James O'Hare (son? brother-in-law?) She is on census of 1851 and 1861 but Hugh is not, leading me to think he died prior to 1851.

Kentner, Kimmerly, Grooms, Sager

Comments:

According to Cruikshank & Watt, "KRR NY" p 215, a George Kentner settled in CT#3 in 1784. Crowder, N "Early Settlers, A Source Book" p110 lists George Kentner as a settler at Twp #3 above Cataraqui (Fredericksburg) in 1785.
To date, I have found no other data to help me follow these with Land Petitions or Land Records. I plan on being in your area mid June & would appreciate any advice for this research. thanks, Don

LOUCKS

Comments:

I am a descendant of (Henrick-Henry) Richard LOUCKS who fled from Stone Arabia, NY into Canada with 3 of his brothers and their families. I'm putting together corrections and additions to an old 1910 LOUCKS Reunion, York, PA and adding descendant lines for many of the family. Richard LOUCKS ultimately settled in Williamsburg Township, Dundas County. His brother, John George, settled in Fredericksburgh. Because some of the earlier family kept in touch, my grandmother's scrapbook of clippings has many names of LOUX, LOUCKS -- and I am trying to tie them back to the right ancestor. It's great fun and a real challenge. Your site is a huge help! Thank you. Karen E. Oleson, W. Palm Beach, FL.

This is an extremely well-designed site with a stupendous amount of information for the new researcher. I began my research long before the age of computers, and must now marvel at the flood of information available on sites like this one, and the way it speeds the accummulation of genealogical information.

One of the easiest sites to use, an indication of the work that went into its design.

Congratulations on the imagination and dedication. It shows!

Wonderful site. It was from the information on this site that I was able to start to put together this side of my daughter-in-law's families. And after reading the book Two Centuries in Sillsville that I just received last week, I was able to make much needed connections especially on the Clute family. I wish that there were more sites like this in Ontario!

I find your Heritage Web Site extremely well presented and an example for Others. It is rare today to see the level of interest and dedication that this site exhibits. These works will be a great help to many, many people over time.
Five (5) years ago I purchased "Mika Publishing" from Nick & Helma Mika's estate in Belleville. All the Copyrights &Film Library etc. were transferred intact. This Company will be re-activated by end of this year and if there was an interest from your Group we are willing to sit down and discuss republishing some book Titles to a mutual benefit. Many Canadian & USA (Genealology & Historical) Publishing firms call me repeatedly to gain access to the well known Titles. We are only interested in dealing with local Groups that would well represent the Canadian identity. This was Nick & Helma Mika's wish and it is our resolve.
THANK YOU.

Comments:

I have yet to find out exactly where in Ontario the Macpherson house is located, or tourist information. Could you please help me. I once did visit this specific property when I was in Public school, many years ago. I found it very interesting and I would like to take my family to see it now. Could you please email me any info you might have about location and whether you can still visit this historic landmark. Also if you have any other information of other historic landmarks that are close to Middlesex County, I would like to visit other places too.

Thank you in advance,
