What families are you researching.?

Doxtator / Dibble / Keller

Comments:

I would be interested in the South FredericksburgH Book should it contain any detail about the above mentioned families.
I am looking for any data about:
Joseph Doxtator married to a Mary Dibble.
John Dibble married to a Julia Ann Keller.
Orren Dibble married to a Mary Post.
Frederick Keller married to a Hannah Sixbury.
I am looking for details as to place of origin, ethnicity, occupations, area where settled, UEL, land grants, etc.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
With Thanks,
Rhonny Doxtator

How wonderful to have resources at your fingertips - helps to find the original entry.

Searching the following -- James Hart (s/o John & Jannetje) a wheelwright. Married Azubah Hawley (d/o Russell & Ann Hawley).

Christopher Young (s/o Henry & Eleanor) - married Magdalena (Lana) Keller (d/o Frederick Keller & Elizabeth Peters).

Lucas Venton married Mahalia Young (d/o Christopher & Lana). Lucas also has a sister Caroline Venton who married John Fitchett.

What families are you researching.?

Williams, Schermerhorn, Benson,

Comments:

An excellent web site that contains quality material, clearly arranged and rich with research information.

I am researching my family genealogy and military history for:

William Williams Associated Loyalist& wife Maria Schermerhorn, (Swarmahorn, Skarmahorn, Scarmarhorn etc.)

Albert Williams, 2nd. Battalion KRRNY, brother to William
Eleaser Williams, and Mary Lord, parents of Wm. & Albert
Lieutenant William Schermerhorn, father in law to William Williams.

Matthew Benson, who married the widow of William Schermerhorn, Elizabeth (Betje KOEK)

The Williams and Schermerhorns were original Crown Patentee of Lots 3, 4, 1/2 5, and 6 of the North Fredericksburg Additional. They also recieved land grants in Camden, (Albert Williams) Rawdon, (William & Maria) and Sophiasburg.

Look forward to hearing from anyone with similar interests. I enjoy searching and copying original source documents from the National and Ontario Archives as related to the above.

Attn: Claudia Williams, and members of the California Williams, relatives of the Albert Williams line: Please contact me by e-mail. The Olden Von Varnaveldt story has been handed down in my family for centuries. I have the NY location of the Loyalist Williams family.

This is an excellent site! Congratulations and thanks to the Heritage Committee for a job well done. It is a pleasure to find information out there that is free. I only wish that other townships could follow your lead.

I will visit this site often. Most of my ancestors came from Fredericksburg Twp. Maybe someone can help me with a problem. John George Hough, my gr gr gr grandfather, born in 1810 in Fred. Twp. married 1. Margaret S. Embury who apparently died young. John married 2.Catherine Sharp who died in 1901 in Fred. Twp. John George had several children. I am looking for information on these children. When did John G. Hough marry Margaret Embury and Catherine Sharp? Death date of Margaret S. Embury?

He states his age as 36 in November of 1881, that he lived the first 20 years of his life in Kingston, Ontario, the next three in Belleville, and then moved to the U. S. to work on the railways out of Omaha, Nebraska. After his testimony he disappears without a trace. I would appreciate any leads.

eight years old, but somehow I still feel a strange kind
of connection and still refer to it as home.

Doing a surname search and looking for Stamford

What families are you researching.?

Unger (Ungar) before l812

Comments:

Looking for the family of my gggrandmother: Emiline Unger. She was born in Albany, NY in l808 and married William McClellan in Stamford January 31st 1828 by Rev. John Russell. Soon after William and Emiline moved to Peel County. It would appear the Ungers were not Loyalists, and I can't seem to find out who her parents were, when they arrived in the County and where they came from. I know Unger is a very common germanic/european name, very popular in the Mennonite and dutch communities.

There may be a connection to Daniel Unger b. l812 in Fredericksburgh, but I can't find it. Other family first names are Washington, Chester and Emiline, as they have carried through into other family lines. Could anyone look in the early records for me?

Comments:

Family story William and Orser Van Varen Veldt(sp?) Brothers came from Holland to American. Took first names as last names. Albert John Williams fought in RRNY. Orser family also. Cemetery plots next to one another in Ontario. Family said Orser family were cousins. Want to find the Orser side of the family in hopes of tracing where Albert John Williams relatives lived in America.

How did you locate our site?

a search of the name George Dies on "Goolge" turned up your site.

What families are you researching.?

Dies

Comments:

I am looking for any Dies (Dise, Dice) UEL family members around Ernesttown 1817-1850.

I did a quick search of the name Matthew on the following document http://www.tbaytel.net/bmartin/quinte.htm and came up with the following which may be a reference to Matthew Dies, Quartermaster KRRNY:

"Fredericksburg Township No. 3: This township was given to Col. Robert Rogers'
Scouts. The first names were mostly British and included on the first
concession . . .

In the second and other concessions were many German names, and a few Dutch as John Bleecker, John Climes, Sergt. Carscallen, Jacob Cooms, Corp. Clock,

Matthew Dibs," I WONDER IF THIS COULD BE MATTHEW DIES ANY ONE SEEN THE ORIGINAL LIST???

"M. Ryckman, P. Dogstrader, Valentine Detlor, G. Finkle, Peter Fike, John Grout, Abram Gravenstein, Jacob Duffman, Bruyn Huff, Phil Huffman, Joel Hough, James Keller, Wm. VanKoughnet, John Reister, Corp. Rombough, Geo. Roll, Tobias Stealey, Fred. Swartzeger, Luke Snider, Sergt. Scrambling, Lieut. Swarmahorn, Jonas and Tobias Vanalstine, Rudolf Vandicor, Sergt. D. Vanderheiden, Sergt. J. Weager, John Weister, Alse. Woodcock. In all there were 310 grantees, and all the lots were taken up by 1790. "

What families are you researching.?

(2) William H. Crabb "1806 & 1844", m. to Rebecca "1803 "& Ellen Fitchet "1841"

Comments:

I found the explanation of the division of North and South Fredericksburgh townships very interesting. Also the maps. In 1871 one W'm Crabb/Ellen is listed in S. Fred. and one W'm Crabb/Rebecca is listed N. Fred. By 1881 both are listed in N.fred. From N.Fred. land records, W'm Crabb "1806" Eng. settled there in 1851 with Rebecca "1803" Eng. They maybe the parents of W'm Crabb "1844" Eng.-wife Ellen Fitchet"1841" Ontario. That's what I'm working on. Also want to find marriage/death information for William/Ellen.
