School Section #6

[1850-1858]

Until recently, we didn’t realize that School Section #6 even existed.

While looking over the 1860 Wallings’ map, a school was noted on Lot 17, Concession 1.

Further research found the school mentioned in the Adolphustown Council minutes in 1850.

The original School Section #1 was divided into two parts, the second school building (named S.S. #6)

being erected on what is now the Bayshore Road.

It was short-lived.

The school was closed in 1858 and the two sections again united as S.S. #1.

No further information has been found.

We the undersigned inhabitants of the Township of Adolphustown in the first concession, finding the very great inconvenience at present arising from the situation of the division School House, pray the Township Council to make such Regulation, as may be most conducive to the inhabitants - for making two  School  Sections in the Concession.

And as in duty bound will ever pray
